The developers behind a proposal to turn the St. Louis Outlet Mall in Hazelwood into a giant youth sports complex want St. Louis County’s help breathing new life into the nearly vacant mall.
A group of investors led by Dan Buck through Big Sports Properties will present their proposal for the POWERplex youth sports facility to a St. Louis County Council committee at 3 p. Details of the request weren’t immediately clear, but Hazelwood Mayor Matthew G. Robinson said assistance from the county, if they agree to it, could include help with infrastructure and other financial incentives. The city of Hazelwood could offer help using an existing tax increment financing district on site and other incentives, he said.
